If you are using Mitra for the first time, it is important to understand how the app works before you start adding your policies. There are a few steps that you need to follow properly.
So, read each step carefully and try to understand how the app uses the information you enter. Once you understand the process properly, using Mitra in your daily work will become much easier.

| How Does Mitra Insurance Agent App Work |
I will explain everything step by step, from installing the app and setting up your account to adding policies and keeping the policy information updated.
Step 1: Install the App and Create Your Account
First, install the Mitra Insurance Agent App on your Android phone. After opening the app, create a new account if you are using Mitra for the first time. If you already have an account, simply log in.
After signing up, go to your profile and update all the details correctly. Your name, mobile number, agency code, branch and other profile information should be entered carefully and checked once before you start using the app.
This is important because some of these details may be used when you send reminders to your customers. If you enter the wrong information, the wrong details may be shown to your client in the reminder.
So, don't skip this step after signing up. Complete your profile properly and make sure all the information is correct. Once your profile is updated, you can move to the next step and start adding your policies.
Step 2: Purchase the Premium Plan
After creating your account and updating your profile, the next step is to activate a Premium Plan. An active Premium Plan is required to access all the features of the Mitra Insurance Agent App.
At present, the Premium Plan cannot be purchased directly from the app. To purchase a plan, you need to contact our team on WhatsApp at Mitra App Page. Our team will share the payment details and help you with the plan activation.
Once the payment is completed and your Premium Plan is activated, you can start adding your insurance policies to the app and use the available features.
Step 3: Add Your Policies
Once your Premium Plan is active, you can start adding your insurance policies to Mitra. Mitra does not automatically fetch policies from the LIC server or from any other insurance company's server. You have to add your policies manually.
You need to add the policies one by one and fill in the information asked by the app for each policy. I recommend entering as much information as possible, especially the details that you may need later for managing and servicing the policy.
If you have many policies, you don't have to add everything yourself. You can also ask a family member or someone you trust to help you with this work. For example, adding 100+ policies may take around two hours, depending on how quickly the information is available.
After filling in the details, check them once and tap Submit. The policy will then be added to your Mitra account. The information you save is stored on Google's servers, so it is not limited to your phone only.
You can access your saved policy information again whenever you log in to your Mitra account. So, once you have added your policies, you can use the same account to access and manage your policy records whenever you need them.
Step 4: Understand the Last Paid Date
The Last Paid Date is a very important field in Mitra. The app uses this date to understand which premium has been paid. So, whenever you add a new policy, enter the Last Paid Date carefully.

| Last Paid Date in Mitra Insurance Agent CRM App |
For example, suppose the Date of Commencement (DOC) of a new policy is 25/09/2026, and only the first premium has been paid. In this case, enter 26/09/2026 as the Last Paid Date.
Why 26/09/2026? Because Mitra understands that the premium due on 25/09/2026 has been paid when the Last Paid Date is entered after that date. So, always keep the Last Paid Date after the premium due date.
The same thing applies when a renewal premium is paid. Suppose the next quarterly premium is due on 20/11/2026 and the customer pays that premium. After the payment, update the Last Paid Date to 21/11/2026.
Now Mitra will understand that the premium due on 20/11/2026 has been paid and will consider the next premium accordingly. This is why updating the Last Paid Date after every payment is important.
Whenever you or your customer pays a renewal premium, or a policy is revived, make sure you update the Last Paid Date in Mitra. If you don't update it, the app will continue working with the old payment information.
So, remember one simple rule: whenever a premium is paid, update the Last Paid Date to a date after the premium due date. This will help Mitra show the policy and premium status correctly.
Step 5: Send Personalised Renewal Reminder
Now comes one of the useful features of Mitra — sending renewal reminders to your customers. For this, go to the bottom menu of the app and click on the Renewals button.
On the Renewals screen, you will see the policies for which renewal is due. If you have entered the policy details correctly and kept the Last Paid Date updated, the app will show the relevant renewal policies here.
Each renewal policy card has the same three buttons. The first is the green tick button, which you can use to update the Last Paid Date. Next is the Call button, and after that, you will see the Send Reminder button.
When you click on Send Reminder, the Send Reminder screen will open. Here, you will find a personalised pre-written message template. The message is prepared using the policy information you have entered in Mitra.
The reminder can include details such as the customer's name, policy number, renewal due date and premium amount. If the premium is overdue, the reminder can also show the late fee, based on the LIC-related calculation used by the app.
Before sending the reminder, check the message shown on the screen. If you want to change anything, you can edit the message according to your requirement.
After checking the message, you can choose how you want to send it — SMS, WhatsApp or Email. The customer's contact details will come from the information you entered while adding the policy, so make sure those details are correct.
For example, if you choose WhatsApp, the customer's WhatsApp chat will open with the reminder message already prepared. You just need to check the message and click the Send button. The same process can be followed for SMS and Email.
This makes the renewal reminder more personal because the customer receives a message with their own policy details instead of a general reminder. You can simply select the policy, check the details and send the reminder.
Step 6: Update App Data
Whenever you edit any policy details, make changes to existing policy data, or add a new policy, you need to update the app data after completing the changes. This helps the latest information reflect across different screens of the app.
To update the data, open All Policies from the bottom menu. Once the screen opens, simply pull down to refresh. The app will refresh the policy data and update it with the latest information.
You can also update the app data from the menu. Tap the three-line menu at the top-left corner and open Portal Update. From there, update the app data to refresh the latest information.
Sometimes you may update a policy successfully, but the changed information may not immediately appear on another screen. This can happen because that screen may still be showing the previous data.
So, whenever you add a new policy or make changes to existing policy details, remember to refresh or update the app data. This ensures that the latest policy information is available across the app.
Step 7: Keep the Policy Records Updated
Once a policy is added to Mitra Insurance Agent App, you mainly need to keep the Last Paid Date updated whenever the premium is paid. This date tells Mitra that the premium for that policy has been paid up to that particular date.
When you update the Last Paid Date correctly, Mitra can use this information internally to calculate and show different policy-related details. You don't need to manually calculate everything yourself.
Based on the Last Paid Date, Mitra can calculate the latest FUP (First Unpaid Premium) and show the policy status. If a premium is overdue, the app can also show the applicable late fee.
The same policy data is also used for other features and lists in the app. For example, Mitra can help you identify maturity policies, lapse ratio, first-year premium policies, and lapsed policies that may need revival.
So, whenever you collect a renewal premium from a client and deposit it at the branch, update the Last Paid Date in Mitra after the payment is completed. If the policyholder pays the premium directly, you should also update the Last Paid Date accordingly.
Remember, you are basically telling Mitra: “This policy's premium has been paid up to this date.” Mitra then uses that information to calculate and update other details related to the policy.
Note: If you want to check the exact FUP of an LIC policy, you can first open LIC Super Sales Saathi and check the policy details there. After that, you can update the Last Paid Date in Mitra accordingly so that the policy information in Mitra matches the latest payment status.
Conclusion
I hope this article has helped you understand how the Mitra Insurance Agent App works. The process may look like a few steps in the beginning, but once you understand it, using the app in your daily work becomes simple.
The most important thing is to enter your policy details correctly and keep the Last Paid Date updated whenever a premium is paid. Mitra uses this information to calculate and show different policy-related details automatically.
You also need to refresh or update the app data whenever you add a new policy or make changes to existing policy details. This helps ensure that the latest information is reflected across the app.
Mitra is designed to help insurance agents keep their policy data organised and make regular policy-related work easier. If you follow these steps properly, you can use Mitra more effectively for managing your insurance policies and servicing your clients.
